Kajeet continues its mission of making learning mobile by bringing its wireless platform to adult learners enrolled in UDC-CC’s Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning (WDLL) program

MCLEAN, VA — Kajeet, the only wireless service provider dedicated to kids and education, is pleased to announce its partnership with the University of the District of Columbia Community College (UDC-CC), and its participation in the Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning (WDLL) program, an effort crafted by District leaders to improve adult literacy and job readiness for District of Columbia residents.

“We are excited to collaborate with the UDC-CC,” said Michael Flood, Vice President of Education Markets at Kajeet. “This initiative is perfectly aligned with the Kajeet mission of making learning mobile, secure and affordable. In addition to the elimination of waste and added accountability that the Sentinel® platform provides, Kajeet SmartSpots also increase digital equity in education by allowing students adequate access to information and communications technologies for learning.”

Launched in the Fall 2012 semester, students enrolled in the WDLL programs with an online component are provided with a Kajeet SmartSpot, powered by the Kajeet Sentinel® platform, to allow managed, easy, and cost effective Internet to access program resources anywhere – an unprecedented amount of flexibility for students, who would otherwise have to rely upon school hours to utilize the Web. The Kajeet Smart Spots are intended to make students accountable for their own learning, removing the barriers of technology and the ability to complete courses to enter the workforce.

“We believe digital literacy is paramount for the success and employment of adult learners,” said Edith Westfall, Director of the Center for Workforce Strategies at UDC – CC. “We are pleased to work with Kajeet to bring affordable and appropriate mobile technology to our students. These devices will give students the ability to access online educational resources and will prepare and align our graduates for the needs of the job market.”

WDLL program administrators will use the Kajeet Global Mobile Award-acknowledged Sentinel® platform to manage student data access, including monitoring usage on each Kajeet SmartSpot and ensuring appropriate, educational use. The Kajeet patented technology allows each school to provide a compliant, mobile broadband environment for any Wi-Fi capable device, while reducing costs for anytime, anywhere access.

Kajeet makes staying connected at home or in school safe, secure and affordable. The only wireless service platform that provides Internet-filtered Android™ devices, walleting functionality, kid-friendly content and GPS location technology, Kajeet enables communication and learning between kids, parents and educators in a safe setting.
