Kajeet Education Broadband™ Provides School Districts with an Affordable, Safe Solution for Student Internet Connectivity Outside the Classroom
MCLEAN, VA — Kajeet, the only wireless service provider dedicated solely to providing safe and affordable mobile connectivity for students, today announced that it has been selected to compete in the final round of the Northern Virginia Technology Council’s (NVTC) Destination Innovation competition. Kajeet will compete against three other companies in the Health, Education and Energy category during the Destination Innovation event on April 29, at The Washington Post headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Presented by the NVTC Technology Innovations Committee and Capital Business—the weekly business publication of The Washington Post—Destination Innovation highlights technology advancements emerging from the Washington, D.C. region through an exhibition, networking, industry speakers, and innovation pitches.
“Getting recognized in the tech community as one of the most innovative companies in the region by NVTC’s Destination Innovation has enhanced the profile of Kajeet and has attracted potential customers as well as media interest,” said Daniel Neal, CEO of Kajeet. “In a region where a lot of disruptive companies are emerging, there is a great deal of effort associated with getting noticed – Destination Innovation is helping companies such as Kajeet rise a step above the rest!”
Currently partnering with more than 55 districts in 22 states including districts like Fairfax County Public Schools, Durham Public Schools and Asheville City Schools, Kajeet is keeping students connected – on multiple 4G LTE wireless networks – to online textbooks, emails, documents and educational websites, as well as to their teachers. Kajeet Education Broadband™ ensures that economically disadvantaged students have a level playing field for academic success and improved test scores.
To ensure safe, education-only connectivity outside of the classroom, school districts issue the Kajeet SmartSpot®, a MiFi® mobile hotspot from Novatel®, and access to the innovative Kajeet Sentinel® cloud portal. Teachers and administrators can manage access hours and filter out non-educational content. This keeps students on-task, focused on school work, and controls costs. As part of the Kajeet solution, schools and districts receive reports with learning analytics to help improve student achievement.
Kajeet, the only wireless service provider dedicated solely to providing safe, mobile connectivity for students, is bridging the digital divide in school districts across the country. Kajeet provides a safe, affordable mobile broadband solution that connects economically disadvantaged students to the resources they need to complete required assignments and projects outside of school. The Kajeet SmartSpot®, a portable Mi-Fi hotspot, combined with the innovative Sentinel® cloud portal, enables administrators and teachers to provide CIPA-compliant, customizable filtered Internet access that keeps students focused on school work and without worry of data abuse.
